QUESTION:

When we pay for sacrifice to be performed overseas, there is no way of ensuring that it is performed 100% accurately. Is the Qurbani still accepted and do we get the full reward? We cannot oversee if our relative or the agency performing it has done it properly.

ANSWER:

It is Mustahabb (desirable) for one to perform the sacrifice animal of Eid-ul-Adha personally. This can be achieved by performing the sacrifice in one’s country or town. This also keeps the spirit of animal sacrifice during Eid-ul-Adha alive in one’s own locality. It is also a
practical way of teaching and educating our children about Eid-ul-Adha.

There is also nothing wrong in doing the animal sacrifice in another country. However, the Wakeel (representative or agent) performing the Qurbaani must be honest and reliable. If such a person performs the sacrifice, then there is no reason to doubt that the sacrifice has not been done properly. The agent should be given clear instructions. He should also be instructed to carry out the Qurbaani on the first, second or third day of Eidul Adha..
