Is adoption permissible? Is artificial milking allowed in Islam? (343 Views)

Question

I live in Canada, I want to adopt a child and I also want to feed my newly adopted child. For this purpose, my doctor told me that milk can be produced in the body by artificially stimulating breasts. Artificial stimulation includes pumping or use of medicine. By doing this, the adopted child will be fed with my milk and the problem for Mahram will be solved. Kindly provide me the guidance about this procedure. Is adoption permissible? Is artificial milking allowed in Islam?

Answer

Adoption is a Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and a source of great blessings and virtue. A home in which an orphaned child is nurtured with love is a small area of paradise. But because adopting a child is fraught with detail it is advisable that you discuss the rights and privileges of adoption with a scholar.

In order for (Rada_at) to be established, it does not matter if the milk is artificially produced or naturally occuring. In both cases hurmat_e_radaat is established. Therefore if you feed your adopted, infant child your own medicinally or artifically produced breast milk, then in that case the child will become your mahram.
